Organic Improv
Just back from NYC, and still a little delirious from hours of walking, taking in the sights and recording, I put extra time on the meter before teaching this morning so that afterwards I could grab a coffee at one of my favorite little restaurants on Yorkville Avenue. I drop by this place only every 6 months or so, and it’s always a treat.
Somehow Mela is easy to miss, although definitely worth checking out. I always find myself scanning the south side of Yorkville just west of Yonge Street before realizing that, thankfully, it is still there.
Today I actually visited twice! Returning to drop off a copy of my CD, the owners pulled my leg about having left my 125+ year old 8-keyed flute on the counter by the cash when I picked up my latte earlier on the fly! So I gamely offered a few notes to add to the warm atmosphere and welcoming ambience.
And don’t get me started about the counterful of delicious organic entrees: absolutely incredible!
