Early One Morning
It was an exciting morning of recording under the Gardiner, on the CNE grounds as well as in a hidden courtyard in Liberty Village. If you look carefully at the courtyard photo, you will see a low entranceway in the middle of the image. No stranger to the unique, flute-likeproportioning and dry acoustic of a smokestack, this is where I first recorded, standing in the inky depths of the chimney. With no place to prop my music, and as I craned my neck looking upwards, it’s funny how a particular theme song from my childhood sprang to mind!
“Look up, look wa-a-ay up, and I’ll call Rusty!” might be a clue for some readers!
For fond reminiscences about Robert Homme – aka The Friendly Giant – please linger here for a moment or two. I think a second recording is in order, as I have just read that the set for this classic children’s show is to be found in the CBC building on Front Street.
