Liberty Piazza
Piazza, Andante
Piazza, Allegretto
After a morning of recording under the Gardiner Expressway and in vacant, cavernous (and haunted, I’m told) buildings on the CNE grounds, I passed northward through the Dufferin Gate to Liberty Village.
I had just happened upon this little courtyard by chance a few weeks earlier, and what a magical place - the ambience of this tastefully restored outdoor space is unique and worth visiting in person, if you can find it!
Liberty Village is a phenomenal urban success story that is still being played out. Like one of those movies where the audience gets to vote on the ending, there are passionate and ongoing debates regarding density and the ideal balance between old and new.
The Italian composer Piazza is ideal for a public gathering place like this. I found this charming method book the one time I visited Florence a number of years ago: a music souvenir that has been a real treasure!
