4 Sisters Elegy
Okay, dear readers, this is what it’s all about: your city as a work in progress! What will Toronto look - and sound - like in 2012, or say 2020…let alone 2108?
Case in point, the massive base of the ‘4 Sisters’ Power Generator in Mississauga is currently rigged with 100’s of sticks of dynamite and will be brought down in a controlled implosion this coming Monday. With favourable weather - an off-shore breeze ideally coupled together with light rain to manage the dust - show time is tentatively scheduled for 8 a.m., the culmination of preparations on the site since the actual smokestacks came down just over a year ago.
This improvisation - a trio for primitive wooden flute, pneumatic drill & birdsong - was recorded at the site just last week.
