St. Bart’s Sanctuary
The Swan
Deep Midwinter
On a bitterly cold day last December, I stopped in quite spontaneously to warm up at Saint Bart’s in the east end, enroute to record at the Riverdale Zoo’s old Monkey House. The welcome I received was just what I needed this particular day!
‘The Swan’, by Camille Saint-Saens, was originally written for violincello, and ‘In the Deep Midwinter’ is a favorite seasonal melody of mine. The third piece, ‘Aquarium’, also from ‘The Carnival of the Animals’, is a recent addition the The RCME’s Flute Syllabus, and is an optional study at the Grade 2 Level (to be uploaded at a later date).
