Moon Over the Ruined Castle, NYC-style!
This is neo-busking at it’s best…‘Moon Over the Ruined Castle’ never sounded so good!
I’m more familiar with Louis Moyse’s set of variations on this old Japanese melody, but, this is just great in my books: superb, engaging duo-work, replete with NYC subway cars and stone-faced passers-by!
You will find Greg Patilla’s theme for this improv in Suzuki Flute School Book 1. Pedagogically, this wonderful melody opens up areas of breath control, dynamic contrasts, tonal shading and overall consistency of mood previously unexplored by new students.
Together here with cellist Eric Stevenson, Greg’s interpretation opens yet another world of sound and style!
