Silence is Golden…

I’ll Never Smile Again
The Bloor-Gladstone Branch Library is undergoing a $6.5 million overhaul, making it the most extensive renovation/expansions ever undertaken by the Toronto Public Library system of one of it’s wonderful historic locations.
I was delighted to have the opportunity to record on location yesterday. One can only marvel at the incredible acoustic properties of the high, arched cielings, contrasted by the din of excavation just outside the walls…there was a momentary lull in the industrial sounds, just long enough for this piece by Toronto’s Ruth Lowe Sandler (1914-1981).
I wonder if a young Miss Lowe ever visited this Library after it opened it’s doors back in 1912!
