One of the first sites that I recorded at with my sister, Lynn, back in October, 2006, I recently returned to this uppermost floor of one of the inumerable and intriguing historic buildings at the Distillery District. Falling into conversation with the work crew, I soon learned there was a cupola above the false ceiling at the top of some scaffolding – despite my concern for liability, etc, I was urged to go ahead and climb up to the the attic space, 40 feet above. With evidence of the Old World craftsmanship in the timber-construction throughout the attic, these stairs, well-worn from use decades ago, led to panoramic vistas of the city.

The recording was made in the Waterworks building at the base of Russell Hill Road, but creates the right sort of atmosphere!
